San Francisco Museum and Historical Society is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, interpretation, and presentation of the rich historical heritage of San Francisco and the Bay Area. Now in its twentieth year, SFMHS has more than 3,000 members and fulfills its mission of preserving Bay Area history through a broad spectrum of programs and special events, such as history walks, the Barbary Coast Trail and Standing Ovations, its annual celebration of our culture. SFMHS serves as the focal point for discovering the history of the Bay Area, including the creation and ongoing operation of a world class museum in San Francisco's Old Mint, a National Historic Landmark at Fifth and Mission streets.
